What is the difference between an oxygen regulator for medical gas and one for welding gas?


the quality of the regulator… they both do the same thing. only the medical regulator is of a much better quality

    Welding gas is not as pure as medical use. But, a supplier of both will give priority to the medical field over industrial companies.
    However, welding oxygen can be used if needed.

    The O2 regulator for medical use is a medical device and is approved by the FDA. Medical O2 generally has some moisture in it and the regulator is designed to acccomodate for that moisture without damage.

    I may be wrong on this, but I believe that the thread patterns are different as well. Welding O2 may have impurities in it that would make it unsuitable for medical use.
